Diccon joined Gallaway Cook Allan’s litigation team in 1984 and has remained with the firm since then, aside from a period in the UK when he completed postgraduate study at the University of Oxford.

Diccon’s career has centred on civil litigation with a strong focus on administrative law. He is a trusted adviser to governance and executive leaders across local government and the education sector. His expertise also includes the law of trusts and employment law, and he is often called on to provide expert legal opinions for clients and other practitioners.

He has held significant community roles, including Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Dunedin, Chair of the Otago Community Trust, Chair of Selwyn College, President of the Otago University Graduates Association, and numerous trustee roles across the arts, education and disability sectors.
